Two months later, Usyk defended this ttle against another South African boxer Danie Venter. In 2015 he retained the WBO Inter-Continental cruiserweight title and beat Russian Andrey Knyazev, South African Johnny Muller and Pedro Rodriguez from Cuba.
In September 2016 the fight for the WBO cruiserweight title took place in Poland. Polish Krzysztof Glowacki lost to Usyk and passed him the WBO title. Same year, he defeaed the title against Thabiso Mchunu from South Africa, and American Michael Hunter in April 2017. In September Usyk fought a new opponent, former WBO champion Marco Huck via a technical knockout in Berlin, Germany. That fight was cruiserweight quarter-final in World Boxing Super Series. Semi-final of WBSS was held in Riga, Latvia, in January 2018, Usyk retained the WBO cruiserweight title and gained the WBC cruiserweight title having won Mairis Briedis.
In July 2018 in WBSS’s final Usyk got the victory over Russian Murat Gassiev. He retained the WBC and WBO cruiserweight titles, and successfully won WBA (Super), IBF, The Ring and lineal cruiserweight titles.
